Rev. Steven J. Caldwell,
Pastor Steven J. Caldwell and
First Lady, Mrs. Gwendolyn P. Caldwell
Pastor Steven J. Caldwell was born in Chicago, Illinois where he attended Chicago Vocational High School and graduated in 1984. Upon graduation, he received a scholarship to play baseball at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida but after a year in Jacksonville, he set his heart on Miami, Florida where he received a baseball scholarship at Florida Memorial University.
While at Florida Memorial, Pastor Caldwell became a member of the greatest fraternity there is, none other than Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. on April 10, 1986. "Pastor Steve" as he is affectionately known is an active member of the fraternity to date. While at Florida Memorial, Pastor Caldwell experienced highs and lows literally. He was addicted to cocaine while a student and became a distributor of the drug as well. Before the drug dealing, Pastor Caldwell spent six months living in an abandoned home in Miami Gardens. Drug dealing provided a way for him to accept the homeless situation but it quickly landed him deeper into anti-social behavior.
While going to purchase drugs, Pastor Caldwell heard a voice telling him to get out of the car. He got out of the car and allowed his partner to continue on with the purchase. His partner was subsequently robbed at gun point and was grazed in the head with a bullet. From that day, March 18, 1991, Pastor Caldwell prayed and asked the Lord Jesus to be the Master and Lord of his life. Pastor Caldwell has been clean and committed to Christ ever since. Never has he attended NA meetings, but God delivered him at that moment.
Pastor Steven J. Caldwell currently serves as the Pastor of New Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Miami, Florida. He also serves as the Team Chaplain for the University of Miami Football team where he has the pleasure of marrying such NFL stars as Devin Hester and Jerome McDougle, serving as life coach and spiritual advisor to Santana Moss, Ed Reed, William Joseph, Andre Johnson and many more.
He is a professor of World Religions, Philosophy and Divinity Studies at Florida Memorial University and the Life Coach and Transitional Skills Instructor for the Federal Bureau of Prisons at Miami Riverside House. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Memorial University (Miami, Florida); a Masters of Theology with a concentration in Apologetics from Regent University (Virginia Beach, Virginia) and is currently pursuing a Ph. D. in Strategic Leadership with the concentration of Leadership Foresight.
He is the proud husband and deeply in love with his wife Mrs. Gwendolyn P. Caldwell. Pastor Caldwell is a vessel that is used mightily of the Lord. His depth of Biblical knowledge and his ability to communicate that knowledge to all is what makes Pastor Caldwell a man mightily used by the Lord in building the Kingdom of God.
